take-profit calculator: take out initials, ride a moonbag

"Taking initials" means selling just enough to get your original stake back, so the rest rides for free. Enter your buy and your current multiple to see exactly how much to sell, then build a take-profit ladder (for example 50% at 2x, 25% at 5x, 25% at 10x) and see what you lock in at each step.

inputs

Take-profit ladder: at each multiple, sell a % of what you still hold

Avg exit on sold tokens

At 3.00x, sell 34.0% of your bag to take out your initial $300.00 after fees; the rest rides for free.

how to use the take-profit and initials calculator

  1. Enter what you put in and, optionally, your entry market cap so each rung shows its market cap.
  2. Enter your fee per side (FOMO and most bots: around 0.5 to 2% depending on size).
  3. Enter your current multiple to see how much to sell to take initials right now.
  4. Build a ladder: each rung sells a share of what you still hold at a multiple. Use a preset or add your own.

formula

share to sell for initials = 1 ÷ (multiple × (1 − buy fee) × (1 − sell fee))
each rung: proceeds = tokens sold × multiple × (1 − sell fee)
moonbag = tokens left after the last rung

how much to sell to take initials

Without fees, the share to sell is simply 1 divided by the multiple: at 2x sell 50%, at 3x sell 33%, at 5x sell 20%, at 10x sell 10%. Fees push it slightly higher. Below 1x there is no way to take initials, because the whole bag is worth less than you paid.

why ladders beat all-or-nothing exits

Memecoins rarely give a second chance at the top. Selling in steps locks in part of every leg up and keeps exposure to a runner. The trade-off is simple: every rung you sell early is money that does not ride a 100x, and every rung you skip is money a rug takes. The calculator shows both sides in dollars.

  • Initials at 2x: sell 50%, the rest is free.
  • Thirds: 50% at 2x, 25% of the rest at 5x, 25% of the rest at 10x, keep the remainder.
  • Moonbag ladder: take a third at 3x and small slices up to 100x.

frequently asked questions

What does "take initials" mean in crypto?

Selling enough of a position to recover the amount you originally invested, so the remaining tokens (the moonbag) cost you nothing. At 2x you sell half; at 4x a quarter.

How much should I sell at 2x?

To take initials at 2x, sell 50% of your tokens (a little more after fees). The remaining half keeps full upside at zero net cost.

What is a moonbag?

The part of a position you never sell on the way up, held in case the token keeps running. It is usually what is left after taking initials and a few profit rungs.

Does the ladder sell a % of my original bag or of what's left?

Of what you still hold at that rung. 50% at 2x then 50% at 5x leaves 25% of the original tokens.
